Second Sunday of Advent
December 8, 2024
Presider: The Lord is close at hand. Let us prepare our hearts
and minds to receive the Lord. With longing for the coming of God’s kingdom,
let us offer our prayer to the Father.
Deacon/ Lector/ Cantor: Please respond: “Lord, hear our prayer.”
1.That the Spirit of God inspire Pope Francis,
Bishop Luis, Clergy, Religious, and Lay leaders to effectively lead our
parish to welcoming God’s abiding presence in their daily lives, we pray...
2. That the hearts of the People of God are directed to the warmth and
safety of the homeless in this season of preparation, we pray...
3. That EMS, Police Officers, Military personnel, Doctors, Nurses, Medical
Technicians, and Mental Health Providers be encouraged in their profession
and conduct their practices with compassion and mercy, we pray...
4. That persons joined by marriage vows strive to increase their love for
one another and be an example to neighbors of love and care, we pray...
5. That persons who serve in public assistance, in administration roles in
government carry out their duties with integrity and respect for the common
good, we pray...
6. That educators create lesson plans with integrity, seeking to encourage
their students to pursue truth in science, in history, and in human
relationships, we pray...
7. That statesmen and diplomats committee to peace at home and abroad and to
the flourishing of all persons without concern for political advantage, the
pursuit of wealth, or fame, we pray...
8. That those who died this past week (list them here) and those who die
this week are welcomed into the heavenly kingdom. That the intention of this

Presider: God of power and mercy, open
our hearts in welcome to those we meet. Remove whatever hinders us from
receiving Christ with joy. We long to share his wisdom and become one with
him now and when he comes in glory. For he lives and reigns with you and the
Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
