General Intercessions
Third Sunday of Advent - Gaudete
Sunday
December 15, 2024
Presider: This is a Sunday for rejoicing. For the Lord is once again as near to us as in his birth two thousand twenty-four years ago in Bethlehem. With confidence in the Lord’s abiding presence, we offer the Father our prayers.
Deacon/ Lector/ Cantor: Please respond: “Come, Lord Jesus.”
1.That Pope Francis, Bishop Luis, clergy,
religious, and lay leadership be mindful of the power of the incarnation in
their loving service and care for their communities, we pray...
2. That our parish be united in joyful song, in deeds of justice and peace,
and in care for the earth inspired by the Incarnation of the Lord, we
pray...
3. That prayer and fasting in this season of preparation for the coming of
the Lord, provide funds for almsgiving to those on the margins of society,
we pray...
4. That first responders, security officers, healers of body and spirit, and
those in military service be inspired by the Love of God for the persons
they serve, we pray...
5. That the birth of the Lord and its high lighting the goodness of creation
inspire diplomats, statespersons, and governments to overcome corruption and
manipulation of truth so that truthful service serve the people the Father
loves, we pray...
6. That m 6. That members of our parish who are homebound might receive
hospitality, support, and holy communion from our parish in these weeks of
preparation, we pray...
7. That those who died this past year and those who are dying are welcomed
into the heavenly kingdom by Mary, Mother of God and our Mother. That the
intention of this Mass, (list here) __________ is (are) remembered in our
prayers at this Mass and during this week, we pray...
9. Let us add the intentions our hearts desire now in silence: (pause) Let
us place these intentions on the altar with our gifts to the community, we
pray...
Presider: Come Lord Jesus, come. Soften our hearts to accept the wonder and magnificence of your Incarnation as Son of Man while remaining the Son of God. May the light, the understanding, and the revelation of the Father’s overwhelming merciful love soften our hearts to welcome your presence. We ask this, Father, through the ministry and healing of your Son who remains forever with you united by the Holy Spirit.
Response: Amen.
