Each week we are posting General Intercessions for the upcoming Sunday liturgies by Msgr. Joseph Masiello, retired pastor of Holy Trinity Parish, Westfield, NJ.  These intercessions are based on the assigned scriptures, the liturgical season and current events.

 THIRTIETH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

CELEBRANT: Jesus listened to the cries of the blind beggar. With trust in our hearts, let us pray that the Lord God may hear our cries on behalf of those in need.

READER: Please respond, “LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER!”

1.  That we, the Church, shepherds and faithful, who bear the name of the Christ may be a source of comfort and healing for all who cry out for God’s mercy, we pray...

2.  That those in the ordained ministry, our Pope, our bishops, our priests, and our deacons may reflect the gentleness of Christ and serve in the humble awareness of their own weakness, we pray...

3.  That the nations may not stumble on the path that leads to peace but walk by the straight ways of justice and mutual respect, we pray...

4.  That our society and our Church family may provide special care for the poor and the hungry, the blind and the lame, those with child, and those who care for children or parents, we pray...

5.  That our national leaders may dream dreams that never were to enhance the common good of all our citizens, and learn how, with respect for one another, to collaborate to bring those dreams to reality, we pray...

6.  That we who are baptized as a priestly people may offer fitting worship, and the living and acceptable sacrifice of charity for all, we pray...

7.  That the seriously ill in our community and among our family members and friends may be gifted with compassion and the healing touch of our God, (especially _________,) we pray...

8.  That the sorrowing may be lifted up in Easter hope; and, ______________, (and) all our beloved dead come to eternal rest in the everlasting embrace of our God’s love and peace, we pray...

CELEBRANT: God of mercy, listen to the cries of your people.  Through our commitment to compassion, bring comfort and healing to the suffering.  We ask this through Christ our Lord.
